What types of PDFs work best?▼
PDFs with embedded digital text work perfectly — most PDFs created from Word, Excel, or any modern application. Scanned PDFs that are images of paper require OCR which is not currently supported; the extracted text will be limited or empty for those.
What is the difference between the output formats?▼
Plain Text (.txt) gives you raw extracted text with no formatting. HTML (.html) adds basic page headings and paragraph formatting, viewable in any browser or Word. Word Compatible (.doc) uses Microsoft's older format which opens directly in Word and Google Docs.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?▼
Never. Text extraction runs entirely in your browser using PDF.js. Your files never leave your device.
Why is some text missing or garbled?▼
Some PDFs use custom fonts or encoding that makes text extraction imperfect. Complex layouts with tables, columns, or rotated text may also lose some formatting. For best results use PDFs created from standard word processing applications.
